“Then Elijah approached all the people and said, ‘How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him.’ But the people didn’t answer him a word.” (1 Kings 18:21-22)
I believe the time for the United States to make a choice is closing in rapidly.
A few Sunday mornings ago, I was struck by a powerful impression. So strong, in fact, that I haven’t been able to shake it. I’ve been mulling it over, and recent online news articles seem to confirm what I sense. I hope I’m wrong. I’ll admit it if I am. But if I’m right, hang on.
So here it is.
I believe that soon, an event will take place in the United States that will shake the soul of our nation deeply. When it happens, we will be faced with two choices: draw near to God or trust in our own strength and wisdom, weak and foolish.
I don’t know if the Lord is bringing this to us or simply allowing it through His protective hands. But I believe He intends to force our nation to make a whole-hearted choice for or against Him at this critical juncture.
If we choose the Lord, there is absolutely no assurance that the effects of this event will pass quickly or easily. However, it will produce increased resilience and reliance that our citizens have let slip over the past few generations, at least since World War 2. More than ease or comfort, the United States people are in desperate need of heartfelt devotion to the Lord, who allowed this nation to come into being over 248 years ago.
I believe that the biblical End Times are approaching, and the Lord wants our nation to be a stalwart pillar and beacon of light to help the nations of the world prevail and to come to the light of the Lord’s presence. If we choose the Lord and commit our ways to Him, we will see our nation rise in even greater influence for good and not for evil. The evil corruption currently infecting our society will be neutralized and dissolved by the Lord’s mercy, forgiveness, and cleansing power. The current corruption won’t be erased, but there will be a renewed restraint that will be a marked difference from the way we see our society functioning now. Christians, be prepared to embrace and disciple many people in the Lord’s ways and His word.
If we choose to face this event in our pride, strength, or faulty wisdom, ignoring the Lord as He calls out to us, we will see our nation sink into levels of depravity that, even now, are incomprehensible. Christians will find themselves hated and hunted. Even in so-called “safe states,” where we believe Christianity has a strong influence, there will be a stunning shift against God and His people. Some people will flee, but many will stay and face the ramifications of our national choice.
How will we know what our nation chooses in this dark and desperate time? First, I believe our President will speak as the voice of the country. Second, we will see the fruit of our national choice, good or bad, come to maturity very quickly.
If we choose wisely, the United States will be like a sequoia redwood that will stand firm in the face of a tremendous End Time hurricane.
If we choose poorly, the United States will be flattened with no influence in the world other than contributing to the persecution of the saints.
What if we don’t choose? Not choosing is choosing evil, and the Lord will no longer allow the nation He planted on this ground to remain standing.
Take heart, dear reader. There are promising signs already breaking out around the nation. I thank God that revival movements are popping up on college campuses around the country. Bible sales are up 20%, primarily among first-time buyers (cbn.com). Hopefully, these new Bible readers will take the Lord’s word to heart. They’re going to need it.
But will our entire nation draw closer to the Lord in time of need, will our citizens turn their backs on God, or will the people remain silent?
I believe the Lord is going to force us to choose, much like He did through Elijah when the people of Israel had fallen into idolatry.
“How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him.”
The wavering will stop, and the choosing will begin.
“But if it doesn’t please you to worship the Lord, choose for yourselves today: Which will you worship—the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living? As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
Have you made your choice?
Addendum: A day after I wrote this piece, I came across the following article from WorldNetDaily.com called “Christian America At The Crossroads” (wnd.com). It’s an article that also promotes World Net Daily’s recent Whistleblower publication. It’s an interesting “coincidence,” isn’t it? A confirmation, perhaps?
Something to think and pray about.
