Is There No Justice?

HighBeamMinistry.com

“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4, ESV)

“Moreover, I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, even there was wickedness, and in the place of righteousness, even there was wickedness.” (Ecclesiastes 3:16)

I was shocked when I heard the verdict in real time.

“President Trump, guilty on all thirty-four felony counts.”

What a crock of horse glitter.

I’m not writing this as an apologist for President Trump. I’m writing this because I’m outraged at the blatant injustice displayed by a corrupt judge.

Yeah, we all get it. District Attorney Alvin Bragg (aptly named for his boasting) ran on the platform that “he was going to get Donald Trump.” It was obvious he was on a mission to convict the former President on something, anything, that he could find (or make up, which he did). It was the classic Stalinist judicial maneuver, “Show me the man, and I’ll show you the crime.” This quote by Lavrentiy Beria, prime deputy under Joseph Stalin, shows that anyone could be a criminal if the police tried hard enough.

It doesn’t matter if the problem was only a minor bookkeeping error, according to the plethora of legal scholars and pundits. Nope. A legal beagle on a hunt for judicial blood and headlines twisted laws and abused the judicial system to amp up a single misdemeanor act into thirty-four felony charges.

Thirty-four.

Felonies.

Even a legally untrained mind such as mine, along with millions of my fellow citizens, could see this was a political hit job via an unjust kangaroo court.

For me, the blame rests squarely on Judge Merchan. It was disgusting and outrageous to read about how Judge Merchan deliberately skewed the courtroom proceedings against President Trump’s defense team and for the prosecution. Not only did the corrupt prosecution bring corrupt witnesses to the stand to lie (err, I mean, “testify”), but corrupt Judge Merchan gave twisted and biased instructions to a jury that pushed and enabled them to spew out their unjust decisions.

According to many legal minds I’ve heard across the political spectrum, there’s no doubt this case will be overturned. Nationally recognized legal scholar and professor at George Washington University Law School, Jonathan Turley, has laid out the problems of the case that led to the massive injustice against former President Trump (thehill.com).

Meanwhile, candidates for felony charges are governing our country (e.g., insider trading, accepting bribes from other countries to work against U.S. interests, fixing legislation for industry profits in exchange for funding political coffers, etc.) while the former President remains a “convicted felon” based on trumped-up charges.

Yes, I’ve been waiting to use that line.

Sadly, such injustice is commonplace today. Check out these recent headlines:

“DOJ Seeks Prison Term for Trump Aide Peter Navarro for Refusing Congressional Hearing with Liz Cheney’s Sham J6 Committee – As Hunter Biden Walks Free for Same Crime” (thegatewaypundit.com).

“Police Beat The Hell Out Of Innocent J6 Protesters And They Face Years In Prison. The Left Riots, Sues Police For ‘Excessive Force’ And Wins Millions” (thegatewaypundit.com).

See the unjust double standard? I’ve pointed out these specific examples but didn’t need to. We all see it daily. The guilty go free while the innocent are punished. The same crime is punished or not, evidently based on political connections. And don’t get me started on the racially biased unjust rulings based on the Left’s standards of wokeism, as if past injustices justify injustice against the Marxists’ oppressor du jour.

Oh yes, the Lord has a lot to say about justice and injustice. “It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice” (Proverbs 18:5).

At this point, no one is surprised at the injustice that’s running rampant in our nation.

Injustice occurs when judges don’t fear consequences or retribution from God or man, although God admonishes them to revere Him and follow His justice. “Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking bribes” (2 Chronicles 19:7).

But that’s not the root cause of the societal injustices we suffer today. We don’t have a justice problem. We have a God problem. If people lived by God’s singular moral standard (what is right or wrong according to Him), justice and just rulings wouldn’t be a problem.

All true justice must be established on a rock-solid standard of right and wrong. That’s found only in who God is and what His will is. Because God is the universal moral standard, all true justice must be based on His standard of right and wrong.

As Deuteronomy 32:4 says about the One True Judge, “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is He.” Job says, “Of a truth, God will not do wickedly, and the Almighty will not pervert justice” (Job 34:12) (italics author).

Therefore, we won’t ever turn around the justice system in our society until our society turns around to God first. Wicked rulings naturally pour forth like sewage when humanity bases justice on our prideful, sinful “wisdom” and corrupt moral standards. Corruption stains all it produces.

Justice prevails when we have kings and judges who follow God’s ways. King David was known as Israel’s gold-standard king. Yes, he had his faults, but David is best known as “the man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). Because he set his heart to follow God’s laws (Psalm 119:34,44), “So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people” (2 Samuel 8:15).

It’s simple. A wicked judiciary produces wicked rulings. A righteous judiciary produces righteous rulings.

Cause and effect.

The great news is a day is coming when all injustices will be overturned, and true justice will prevail, “For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off” (Psalm 37:28).

Until then, pray for our nation to turn back to God! When that happens, justice will once again prevail. “When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers” (Proverbs 21:15).
